Sometimes it takes a village and, like moms and dads, we know it’s true! Entertaining a little one is great work, so here are some ideas to make him smile!
Halloween this year was an opportunity to get a big smile and lots of laughs from our son. Dad decided to dress up as our son’s favorite live action host: DJ Lance Rock! Our son’s stunned surprise was priceless and not only made him laugh and laugh, but all of us as well.
When raising a baby or two or three … we all need to add a little lightness to our life once in a while, remember what it’s like to be a baby and enjoy the laughter. The funniest part of that Halloween costume was the next time the show aired, our son looked at the show host, DJ Lance Rock, pointed and said, “Dad”!
Need easy ways to make your baby laugh and wiggle, dance and have fun? Well, bring out your inner child and remember that it is the simpler wonders in life that will make your child stunned with wonder and tickle his funny bone.
Here are some simple ways to make your baby laugh!
- Blow bubbles into a glass of water, through a straw
- Tie two helium balloons to Grandpa’s ears on 12-inch strings and make him move his head.
- Attach a suction cup to your forehead and speak in a funny voice.
- Make a whistle with raisins. Use an empty can of raisins, with the mouth of the cup open so the air doesn’t escape and blow.
- Pretend to tickle yourself and laugh and squirm. Your baby will soon try to tickle you and make you laugh. He continues to giggle and squirm
Remember with everything you do, to look at it through the eyes of a child. What makes it new, unique, potentially fun? I’ve found that just reacting in a big way to many of my son’s antics often makes him laugh and of course making silly sounds with almost everything I do always makes him happy and the desire to make those sounds too. Now, I just need to be aware that I don’t make those silly sounds when my son isn’t around – people tend to look at me weird.
